Michelle was born on the 13 of January and she is currently 20 years old. She currently resides in Petaling Jaya. At the present moment, she is pursuing a Psychology degree at HELP University College. Previously, she studied A-levels at Methodist College Kuala Lumpur.
Michelle is the eldest daughter in the family and has a younger sister. As a typical Asian, Michelle has a strong bond with her family members. She loves to spend quality time with them as she goes out with her family during the weekends and during vacations. She also becomes overprotective when it comes to issues regarding the family and is always supporting them in whatever they are doing. Her family are open to each other as we can express how we feel about certain things and talk to each other freely.
Apart from her family, friends come second to her heart and list of priorities. Unlike relationships that are bonded through blood, friendship is a mutual relationship that is bonded by trust and honesty. She believes that true friends are people who love her for who she is and how she is regardless of the circumstances. Moreover, she feels that true friends are those who are there for her during the hardest times of her life such as during her huge arguments with her family at one lowest point in her life and those she can share her secrets with without being judged, given the fact that she is a private and secretive person. She believes that everyone needs that special friend who is always there for them whenever they are in need and having one is just a blessing.
Michelle has always been a learner and achiever. This means that she has a great desire to improve on whatever she is doing and will work hard at everything she does to achieve the outcome of her particularly high standards. She has the desire to learn new skills and knowledge to become a better individual. Hence, this is also in accordance with her being a perfectionist in everything she does. Aside from that, she is a workaholic and organized individual. She believes that with all this characteristics, they will help her succeed in achieving her goals.
One of Michelle’s main interests is travelling, be it within the country or other countries around the world. She believes that travelling open the doors to new experiences whether it is the food, culture or even the people themselves, every country or state have something different to offer. With travelling, she feels that she is able to broaden her perspective towards a whole different view of the world and how she views the people of a particular country instead of their specific stereotype. Thanks to Michelle's parents, who are both rather adventurous and love to travel, she has managed to travel to more than a dozen countries and places. Besides that, she enjoys contributing to the country’s economy through shopping, similar to most females.
In her spare time, she takes pleasure in reading. Although this sounds like a typical textbook hobby, she loves delving herself in romance novels and oddly enough, self-improvement books as well. The reason she likes reading self-improvement books is because she believes that there are just so many things a person can improve on oneself whether it is on skills or the way a person sees the world. This genre of books is also motivating and just lifts her mood up after reading it. They are real eye-openers towards life among other things.
Other than that, she enjoys playing various forms of sports such as badminton, volleyball, netball, swimming and jump rope. However, she is not remarkably excellent in any of the sports and rather mediocre for a matter of fact. Nonetheless, she realised that the saying ‘failing does not make you a failure’ is true and what she enjoys is the game and the process itself. Furthermore, being in sports that require being in teams such as netball and volleyball have taught her the meaning of teamwork and she loves how each member supports one another. Hence, it is not always about results, but the process which makes it all worth while.
Subjects that she is interested in are psychology, mathematics and economics. The reason she is fascinated with psychology is due to the sense of discovery she constantly have on how the human mind affects one to act in a certain way or have a certain thought and that it is always relevant to our daily lives. Mathematics has been her subject of interest since her schooling years due to her liking for numbers and calculations. As well as, studying economics has given her an insight on how economies work and taught her to develop analytical and evaluative skills, which is rather fascinating.
There is a difference between aspirations and dreams although most people almost always group these words together. Aspiration is a strong desire of a particular goal in which she believes that she would strive to achieve what she wants. On the other hand, dreams are something ideal and wish they were true. She has always dreamed of becoming an air-stewardess since young as she loves travelling the world, meeting new people of different cultures and learning different languages. However, this is merely her own personal fantasy as she believes that she is unable fulfill the requirements needed to be an air-stewardess.
Michelle aspires to be a successful businesswoman working in the corporate world where she will be doing a job she loves and is passionate for. Many people dream and aspire to be rich or even have a job that is able to make them millionaires. Nonetheless, she believes more on choosing a job that she loves and working on something challenging and yet exciting that she enjoys doing. Earning lots money while doing what she loves is just icing on the cake. The reason why she is pursuing Psychology while planning to enter the corporate world is because she believes that knowledge on business can only be learnt through experience rather than books. In addition, psychology is applicable in most jobs and it will be a very useful tool to her in the future.
Her mentor in life has always been her father who is also working in the corporate world. He aspired her to be like him as he is successful in his job through his perseverance, patience and socializing skills in addition to loving what he does as his job. He is a workaholic which is a similar characteristic that she possess but somehow manages to balance the love for his work and family at the same time which is what she ultimately aims for. Besides that, he always encourages her to pursue what she loves doing. His famous saying is “work hard and play hard” and he always advises her to not step on others on the way to the top even though it is a dog eat dog world.
Her other aspirations in life is to learn other languages as well such as Korean, Japanese and French with the aim of becoming multilingual apart from the languages she already knows from staying in a multiracial country. Moreover, she would like to continue travelling the world and to try bungee jumping or skydiving in the future as what she watched on Amazing Race. Finally, her most current aspiration is she hopes that she would be able to transfer to the university of her dreams in the United Kingdom as she would like to experience independence, being in a new environment and being in a country with a more open culture with different people. Hope that this will come true for her!
